A motorcyclist died today after colliding with a pickup truck in the Spring Valley area of Las Vegas, Metro Police reported.

Police received reports at 2:21 p.m. of the accident on Spring Mountain Road near Lindell Road, Officer Laura Meltzer said.

According to witness statements and evidence at the scene, the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Spring Mountain in the center travel lane.

The Ford F-150 was located in a parking lot, waiting to enter Spring Mountain. As it exited the parking lot, it was struck by the motorcycle, causing the 19-year-old rider to eject.

The motorcyclist was transported to a University Medical Center, where he later died, Meltzer said.

The driver of the truck, 31-year-old Roy Cozart, suffered minor injuries.

Spring Mountain Road was closed in both directions between Decatur Boulevard and Lindell Road while officers investigate, Meltzer said.

The accident is still under investigation.

This is Metro Police's 47th traffic related fatality so far this year.
