Coroner IDs woman who crashed into apartment building

A 25-year-old woman found dead last Wednesday after her car crashed into an apartment building in Sunrise Manor was identified as Annemarie Velasquez of Las Vegas, the Clark County Coroner’s Office said today.

The crash occurred in a residential area near East Carey Avenue and North Hollywood Boulevard at 12:37 p.m., according to Metro Police.

According to police, witnesses said the car failed to stay in its lane as it headed south on Easement Lane, south of Appleton Drive. They reported that the driver hit the right curb, ran over a sidewalk, through a chain link fence and hit the building at 6996 Hopkins Drive, police said.

Velasquez was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured.

Metro Officer Larry Hadfield said investigators were trying to determine whether Velasquez experienced a medical episode.

The Coroner’s Office has not yet determined a cause of death.
