Reno police probe fatal shooting of young father

RENO — Reno police continue to investigate the fatal shooting of a young father killed by bullets that traveled through his apartment window near Wooster High School.

Police say 23-year-old Anthony Cueva had just put his infant son to bed when he was struck by the gunfire about 10 p.m. Friday.

The incident occurred about 2 miles away from another fatal shooting in southeast Reno on Sunday, but investigators don't believe the cases are related.

Police say multiple people were seen running from the area following the Friday evening shooting, but they have no suspects in either case. They say Cueva does not appear to have any connection to the shooters.

A neighbor, 67-year-old Bill Picket, told the Reno Gazette-Journal on Monday that Cueva was a "good father and family man."
