Officials identify 2 people killed in separate shootings

Two Las Vegas residents killed 16 hours apart in separate shootings Thursday were both in their early 20s, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

The deaths of Marvin Surrell, 22, and Krystal McAdow, 23, were Metro Police's 69th and 70th homicides this year. Another woman, discovered dead in an east valley street Saturday morning, is No. 71.

Surrell was shot multiple times in an apparent home invasion, Metro said. Residents of the gated community near Blue Diamond Road and Durango Drive reported banging on their neighbor's door around 12:30 a.m., then gunshots. Surrell was found on an upper floor of the home and declared dead at the scene.

Around 5:50 p.m., McAdow was in a car with a man in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven near the Strip when a second man drove up and fired a single round through the windshield. The bullet hit McAdow in the chest, and both men fled. Officers arrived at the scene at 2691 W. Sahara Ave., and McAdow was taken to University Medical Center, where she was declared dead.

Metro is investigating the homicides.
