Man hit, killed after breaking down on I-15 near Moapa

A man having car trouble on Interstate 15 near Moapa was killed early Wednesday morning when he got out of his car and was hit by a passing vehicle, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The 45-year-old Las Vegas resident broke down near a construction site south of Moapa, Trooper Jeremie Elliott said. About 1 a.m., the man left his car on the southbound side of the interstate and walked across the road, Elliott said. The man was struck and killed in the northbound lanes, Elliott said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released, pending notification of his family.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene, Elliott said.
