Las Vegas developer buys Reno’s blighted Kings Inn

The Kings Inn, the long-abandoned hotel-casino that has come to symbolize downtown Reno blight, has been sold to a Las Vegas developer.

The sale isn't final until escrow closes sometime near the end of summer, said Tim Ruffin, the commercial real estate broker representing the buyer, Amador "Chi Chi" Bengochea.

Bengochea owns Bentar Development, a Las Vegas general contracting firm that has built a number of restaurants, truck stops, retail and office centers throughout Southern Nevada.

Ruffin said Bengochea's plans for the Kings Inn property are still being developed, but said they likely include some kind of residential component.
