Updated Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 | 9:44 p.m.

Fatal accident

A female pedestrian was killed this evening when she was hit by a pickup truck while walking along the U.S. 95 northbound off-ramp to Valley View Boulevard.

Nevada Highway Patrol received word of the accident at 7:10 p.m., and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, Trooper Loy Hixson said.

Hixson said the pedestrian was about halfway from Valley View to the highway when she was hit. The male driver of the black 2000 Chevy pickup stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

It’s unclear why the woman, who appeared to be in her late 20s or early 30s, was walking on the off-ramp, Trooper Jeremie Elliott said. She did not have identification items with her.

The ramp remains closed while troopers investigate.
