A 15-year-old girl has been missing since Friday afternoon, when she didn’t return home from school.

Red Rock Search and Rescue began searching for Kearstin Ellis about 9:30 a.m. Sunday and dispatched eight teams of three or four people each to search Las Vegas. Rescue teams were scheduled to begin a second day of searching about 8:30 a.m. Monday.

The family also will pass out missing-person flyers and posters throughout the city, Red rock Search and Rescue Cmdr. David Cummings said.

Ellis was last seen Sunday at a park near Sahara and Eastern avenues, but search crews haven’t been able to locate her, Cummings said.

Ellis is 5 feet tall and weighs 125 pounds. She has short brown hair and was last seen wearing white-rimmed glasses, a white polo, and black pants and shoes.

Cummings said it is imperative that Ellis is found soon, because she has gone two days without medication she needs to take each day. Ellis has a history of going missing, but never so long or since she changed to the medication she takes now, Cummings said.

Red Rock Search and Rescue crews plan to continue searching for her until she is found.

Anyone who has information about Ellis’ whereabouts is encouraged to call Red Rock Search and Rescue at 758-4727.
