Police: Man critically injured when SUV runs red light

A man was in critical condition and five other people were injured Sunday in a four-vehicle crash that included a Regional Transportation Commission bus.

Metro Police responded about 7:05 p.m. to the collision at Lake Mead and Lamb boulevards. Evidence and witnesses indicate that a Chevrolet SUV was traveling east on Lake Mead Boulevard when the driver failed to stop for a red light at Lamb Boulevard, police said.

At the same time, a Nissan sedan had entered the intersection. The SUV slammed into the right side of the Nissan, sending it southeast across the intersection and into a stopped Hyundai sedan. The two sedans then slid into an RTC bus that also was stopped at the intersection, police said.

The driver of the Nissan was transported to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The driver and passenger of the SUV, along with the bus driver, were transported to University Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai and a passenger also suffered minor injuries.
