Officials ID man dead after Pahrump hotel standoff

Authorities are identifying a 29-year-old man accused of abducting his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint in Las Vegas and driving to rural Pahrump, where the sheriff says he shot himself dead during a hotel standoff.

The Clark County coroner on Monday identified the dead man as Ferdinand Lariosa of Las Vegas.

Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo says Lariosa piled furniture against the door of a room at the Best Western hotel and shot himself in the head as SWAT officers entered early Sunday morning.

The woman was found unharmed. Her name wasn't immediately made public.

DeMeo says guests had been evacuated from nearby rooms.

Lariosa had been sought after police said he fired a shot in the air and kidnapped the woman in her vehicle late Saturday in Las Vegas.
