Pedestrian struck by vehicle
A 14-year-old boy suffered minor injuries today when he failed to notice a truck turning onto Durango Drive and walked into the side of it, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Metro Police and the Highway Patrol responded about 8:20 a.m. to the accident on Durango Drive, south of Farm Road.
The truck was turning right from Farm Road onto Durango Drive when the teen attempted to cross the street to a bus stop, Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said.
The teen didn’t see the truck and walked into its side door, he said. The teen was taken to University Medical Center, where he received stitches, authorities said.
He was cited for jaywalking, officials said.
