Republican Sen. Rand Paul claims that giving benefits to the long-term unemployed hurts their chances of getting employed, compared with the recently unemployed.
Has he given any thought to the fact that many of these people were in jobs that no longer exist? These people may not have the skills for jobs that are available now.
Other Republicans say if you don’t work, you shouldn’t eat. Where are the jobs? Would they let people starve? Some Republicans also want to do away with food stamps. I’ve never witnessed such coldheartedness.
