Heavy wind was blamed for causing a power outage in the northwest Las Vegas Valley that left 1,200 residents without power for about an hour this afternoon.

NV Energy spokeswoman Michelle Booth said the outage was reported about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.

Crews repaired the downed line about an hour later, Booth said.
