Two vehicles were destroyed, another vehicle was damaged and three people were displaced from their home today after a fire broke out in a garage.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded about 11:40 a.m. to the fire at 6308 O’Bannon Drive, near South Torrey Pines Drive and West Oakey Boulevard. Firefighters confined the flames to the garage and extinguished it within five minutes of their arrival, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski.

A female resident injured her hand during the fire after she broke a window to rescue a dog inside the house, Szymanski said. The woman bandaged herself at the home. No one else was injured in the fire.

The fire destroyed two vehicles and damaged a third vehicle in the driveway. Fire officials estimated damage at $50,000 and attributed the cause to accidental careless smoking in one of the vehicles in the garage
