Former Rebel Tim Cornett registered the sixth best 40-yard dash among running backs on Sunday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
Cornett ran the 40 in 4.48 seconds, which tied him for sixth in a field of 33. His broad jump mark was 125 inches, which tied for seventh, and Cornett ranked 18th in the vertical jump at 34.5 inches. Cornett didn’t participate in the bench press.
Cornett, the leading rusher in UNLV history, was the only Rebel among the 330 invitees to Lucas Oil Stadium, where representatives from every NFL teams gather to evaluate draft prospects. He led the Rebels in rushing for four consecutive seasons and helped them reach a bowl game for the first time since 2000 with a career-high 1,284 yards and 15 touchdowns his senior season.
Cornett’s 3,733 career rushing yards rank second in Mountain West history, and his 38 total touchdowns rank second in program history. The NFL Draft begins in New York City on May 8.
