Some feel the Canyon Springs High basketball team could challenge defending state champion Bishop Gorman for this year’s title.
If Canyon Springs produces offensively like it did today in the Sunrise Regional quarterfinals, those predictions could prove to be accurate.
Canyon Springs scored more than 50 points in each half, defeating the visiting Eldorado 106-76.
More important, defending Sunrise champ Canyon Springs (22-4) had 13 players score, resting its starters in the second half in preparation for the next two days of the tournament.
“It’s good to rest the kids. There won’t be an easy game from here on out,” Canyon Springs coach Freddie Banks said.
Shaq Carr, a UTEP verbal commit, had 22 points for Canyon Springs. Gerad Davis scored 18.
The Pioneers play Valley Thursday in the regional semifinals.
