3 officers on leave after man’s death in Oklahoma

Updated Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 | 3:09 p.m.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Three police officers are on administrative leave while officials investigate the death of a man outside an Oklahoma movie theater.

Forty-four-year-old Luis Rodriguez died after an altercation with officers early Saturday morning in a parking lot at a theater in the central Oklahoma city of Moore.

Rodriguez's wife says her husband was chasing her after she got into a fight with her daughter when officers attempted to question him.

Moore Police Chief Jerry Stillings says Rodriguez became uncooperative and was pepper-sprayed and handcuffed. That's when his wife says police beat him and he died.

Stillings says a cellphone video of the incident doesn't show anything inappropriate.

A police spokesman says whether other force including kicking took place is under investigation. Autopsy results are pending.

The officers have not been identified.
