Police: Man dies in collision after failing to yield at stop sign

Fatal accident on Durango and Washburn

A 38-year-old man died early this morning in a vehicle crash after he failed to stop at a stop sign.

Metro Police responded about 2:30 a.m. to the crash at Durango Drive and Washburn Road. A man driving a Toyota pickup truck was traveling west on Washburn when he failed to stop at the sign on Durango, police said.

His vehicle entered the intersection and crashed into a Chrysler sedan traveling on Durango. The collision caused the pickup truck to overturn and eject the driver, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. A 43-year-old male passenger in the pickup truck was transported to University Medical Center in moderate condition, police said.

The man driving the Chrysler and his passenger sustained minor injuries.

Metro is investigating the incident.
