CARSON CITY — The state Public Utilities Commission has directed NV Energy to submit a plan by May 1 for the phased closure of the coal-fired Reid Gardner Generating Station and disclose the expected cost to ratepayers.
The Legislature passed a law that called for the shutdown of Reid Gardner, which will be closed in three phases starting in December and ending in December 2019. It will be replaced with renewable energy sources.
