Rashad Evans readies himself for his fight against Chael Sonnen during UFC 167 Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans was scratched from UFC 170 next weekend in Las Vegas after suffering a leg injury, the UFC announced today.

Evans was scheduled to fight former Olympian Daniel Cormier Feb. 22 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in the co-main event of UFC 170.

The UFC says the card, which is headlined by the UFC women’s bantamweight championship fight between Ronda Rousey and Sara McMann, will continue with 10 bouts.

It would have been Cormier’s debut in the light heavyweight division. He was undefeated at heavyweight with a 13-0 record.

“I’m so sad, but I wanna fight. I’ve trained so hard,” Cormier posted on Twitter.
