LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The aircraft of an Arkansas Forestry Commission pilot missing for more than a week has been located, but the fate of the pilot is still unknown.
The commission says the plane was spotted by the Civil Air Patrol at about 4 p.m. Tuesday outside of Glenwood in southwestern Arkansas. The agency says the sighting was confirmed by a state police helicopter.
Ground crews are heading to the site.
Pilot Jake Harrell has been missing since Jan. 31, when he was on an air patrol to look for wildfires. Numerous agencies have taken part in air and ground searches in the heavily wooded and mountainous region.
The crash site is in Montgomery County.
