A truck driver hit and critically injured a pedestrian today, prompting a four-and-a-half-hour closure of Flamingo Road between Las Vegas Boulevard and Koval Lane.

Witnesses told Metro Police that a Ford medium-duty commercial truck was turning left onto eastbound Flamingo Road on a green signal from the left turn lane of Linq Lane when he hit a pedestrian crossing Flamingo Road.

The pedestrian, described as a 54-year-old man from England, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was in the intensive care unit with critical injuries, according to Officer Larry Hadfield, a Metro Police spokesman.

The driver of the Ford truck, Paul Rosquist, 44, of Las Vegas, was not hurt. Police have not said whether Rosquist will face any charges in connection with the crash.

Around 1:40 p.m. the Regional Transportation Commission reported Flamingo Road was reopened near the accident site.
