Pedestrian killed
A pedestrian was struck and killed Saturday by a driver who then fled the scene of the crash, Metro Police said.
Lt. Ken Romane said the driver crashed into the pedestrian just before 4 a.m. on Las Vegas Boulevard near Agate Avenue. The 39-year-old male pedestrian was walking in the crosswalk on Las Vegas Boulevard. The driver fled the scene, but police caught up to him near the crash site and placed him under arrest, police said.
The driver was identified as 22-year-old Peter Whitaker, who was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for felony hit and run, police said.
The incident remains under investigation.
