Fired manager at beauty supply shop pleads guilty to arson

Beauty Supply Warehouse arson

A former manager at a Las Vegas beauty supply shop pleaded guilty today to federal charges that he set the business on fire in September.

Reynaldo Staana, 48, pleaded guilty on Thursday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas to one count of arson of property used in or affecting interstate commerce. Sentencing is scheduled for May 6 — Staana faces between five and 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

According to court records, Staana had been an assistant manager at Beauty Supply Warehouse in the 3300 block of South Nellis Boulevard in Las Vegas before he was fired last August.

On Sept. 8, he went inside the building after hours and set it on fire, causing more than $1 million in damage. No one was injured.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Clark County Fire Department, and Metro Police. Staana was arrested on Sept. 24.
