A motorcyclist was airlifted today to University Medical Center after an accident in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Christie Vanover, a spokeswoman for the National Park Service at Lake Mead, said shortly after 10 a.m. authorities responded to reports of a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on North Shore Road, about six miles east of Callville Bay Road.

The cyclist, who suffered unspecified injuries, was transported via a Mercy Air helicopter ambulance to UMC. No condition report was available.

In addition to National Parks Service rangers, responding agencies included Metro Police, Clark County Fire Department and MedicWest Ambulance, Vanover said.
