CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Funding has been approved for architectural and engineering work on the new hotel college building at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The Board of Examiners chaired by Gov. Brian Sandoval approved the $2.7 million in funding on Tuesday.
Legislators approved the new college in 2009.
State public works officials say the design phase will take about a year. Construction will then take 15 to 18 months.
Costs are being shared on a 60 percent to 40 percent basis between the state and UNLV.
Officials estimate the total cost of the project at $50 million.
