A bar fight early Monday left one man dead and another man arrested in connection with murder, according to Metro Police.

Detectives arrested Luis Chavarin, 31, on a count of open murder after the deadly argument, which happened about 4:20 a.m. at a tavern called the Loose Caboose, 4405 W. Flamingo Road, near Arville Street.

Police said Chavarin and another man were socializing with other bar patrons when they became involved in an argument that quickly turned physical.

The male victim, who has not been identified, fell to the ground with unknown injuries and was unconscious and unresponsive when officers arrived, police said. He was pronounced dead a short time later at University Medical Center’s trauma center.

Officers detained Chavarin at the scene and transported him to the Clark County Detention Center, where he remains without bail, according to jail records.

This is the sixth homicide in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2014.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
