A man accused of shooting and killing a Walgreens clerk during a robbery last week appeared in Las Vegas Township Justice Court this morning.

Jin Ackerman, 25, was presented with the state’s criminal complaint against him before Judge Joseph S. Sciscento.

Metro Police allege Ackerman shot and killed Antonino Isnit, 58, at the Walgreens at 8500 W. Cheyenne Ave., near Rampart Boulevard.

Ackerman and Isnit worked together at the store for at least a day in October 2011, according to an arrest report.

Ackerman was fired from the company in July 2013 for “improper use of the computer regarding employee files,” the report said.

His attorney, Thomas Pitaro, said he has not yet seen video evidence against his client. Pitaro said he would not disclose whether Ackerman plans to plead guilty and will spend the next week reviewing evidence.

Ackerman spoke softly during his court appearance and reviewed a copy of the complaint.

Police say Ackerman entered the store Friday wearing surgical masks and gloves. He made a purchase and asked to use the bathroom before he pulled a gun and robbed the store of $5,000 to $7,000, the report said.

The suspect claimed to know Isnit and when Isnit returned from his lunch break, the man shot him and fled the scene, police said.

Walgreens employees identified Ackerman as the suspect in the robbery as well as another that occurred two days earlier in the 9400 block of West Desert Inn Boulevard, near South Fort Apache Road, police said.

He is being charged in both robberies.

Ackerman faces one count of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, two counts of burglary with a deadly weapon, three counts of first-degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon and two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon.

District Attorney Steve Wolfson called the case “one of the most serious cases of the year,” saying the state has “compelling evidence” that Ackerman committed a string of armed robberies before allegedly killing Isnit.

Ackerman’s next scheduled court date is at 8 a.m. on Jan. 7. He remains at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
