Metro Police said Jin Ackerman, 25, was arrested Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, in connection with a fatal shooting at a Walgreens story in northwest Las Vegas.

A man is in police custody after a clerk was shot and killed Friday morning during a robbery at a northwest valley Walgreens, Metro Police said.

Police were dispatched about 5:10 a.m. to the store at 8500 W. Cheyenne Ave., near North Rampart Boulevard, Lt. Bruce Miyama said.

The clerk was pronounced dead at the scene, and the shooter had fled the store, Lt. Erik Lloyd said.

Police identified Jin Ackerman, 25, as the suspect and tracked him to a residence in the 1600 block of April Shower Place. A Metro SWAT team took Ackerman into custody Friday afternoon.

Police said Ackerman entered the store and kidnapped a female employee at gunpoint. He removed cash from the store's safe and stayed in the store for about an hour.

Police said Ackerman then confronted a male employee and forced the two workers into a back room, where he shot the man and fled. The female employee called 911.

Ackerman also is suspected in a Dec. 24 robbery at a Walgreens in the 9400 block of West Desert Inn Road, police said.
