letter to the editor:

Racism saturates our society

The violently prejudicial treatment of black men by police all over the United States is an ugly reflection of the treatment Republicans have afforded the president of the United States, and for an identical reason: they are black.

Begin with the primitive, uneducated rudeness of the Republican congressman who yelled out, “You lie,” as President Barack Obama was addressing the entire world — thus demonstrating to the planet that we boneheaded Americans do not care to what excellence a person has risen. If he’s black he is insulted, ignored, disrespected — and now, again can be murdered without retribution.

Racial sickness saturates our society from top to bottom. It lays mired in our prejudiced souls smirking in the face of the Bill of Rights.

All men are created equal? Not here in the United States. And they will never be equally treated so long as the police who are sworn to protect us and the Congress we hired to lead us reek of the same pervasive stench of racism.
