Updated Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 | 5:42 p.m.

Metro Police are searching for a man they say killed a 34-year-old Las Vegas resident in a central valley shooting Thursday evening.

Police received a report of shots fired about 7:45 p.m. in the 200 block of North 13th Street, near Stewart Avenue and North Maryland Parkway, Metro said in a news release.

Manuel Niceforo Cardenas was discovered with gunshot wounds in a nearby alley, officials said.

Cardenas was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

An investigation indicates Cardenas and another man were involved in a verbal fight before the suspect shot Cardenas multiple times and fled the scene, police said.

Police are asking anyone with additional information about this case to call Metro's Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or to email [email protected]. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit crimestoppersofnv.com.
