Police say this man fatally beat a man outside a Las Vegas convenience store Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014.

A man who died after being beaten and possibly hit with a rock outside a convenience store Saturday has been identified as 51-year-old Jeffrey Harry Clabaugh, authorities said.

Clabaugh, whose city of residence was not listed, died of multiple blunt-force injuries, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Clabaugh was found dead behind the store after a fight about 7:10 p.m. in the 4300 block of North Nellis Boulevard, near East Craig Road, Metro Police said.

Police believe Clabaugh may have taken something from a man’s vehicle while the man was inside the store. When the man saw Clabaugh leaving, he followed him into the desert and battered him, police said.

It appears Clabaugh was hit with a rock, police said. He was found in a bush and was declared dead at the scene, police said.

The suspect was described as a Samoan or Hawaiian man between 20 and 30 years old. He was last seen wearing a green shirt, tan shorts and flip-flops.

A female seen with the suspect left the scene in a white pickup truck, police said.
