Airline returns with flights between Mexico, Las Vegas

VivaAerobus officials say the airline has begun flying nonstop between Monterrey, Mexico and Las Vegas again.

The airline said Friday that it would offer the flights four days a week — on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday.

VivaAerobus returns after dropping Las Vegas as a destination in January 2013.

The airline's arrival at McCarran International Airport nearly doubles the number of possible passengers traveling from Monterrey to Las Vegas compared to a year ago.

There were six nonstop flights a week last December. Now there are 11 weekly nonstop flights.

Interjet, Aeromexico and Magnicharters also fly between Las Vegas and Monterrey.

Vegas tourism officials say travelers from Mexico are the second largest group among international visitors to the destination.

VivaAerobus says fares start at $99 one-way.
