Rain fell across the Las Vegas Valley on Tuesday as a low-pressure system off the coast of California pushed moisture into Southern Nevada, increasing the likelihood of fog this week.

Up to about 0.5 inches of precipitation fell in parts of the valley as of 9 p.m., with areas in Summerlin and Centennial Hills experiencing the heaviest rainfall, National Weather Service meteorologist Barry Pierce said.

Areas east of Interstate 15 reported lighter rainfall totals of about 0.10 to 0.25 inches.

In the Mount Charleston area, Kyle Canyon experienced 2 inches of rain, Pierce said.

About 0.4 inches of snow fell in Lee Canyon near the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort, Pierce said.

Several areas reported light drizzles Tuesday morning, and heavier rain fell from about 4 to 8 p.m., Pierce said.

The moisture in the air this week has increased the chance for patchy fog, which is not common in the valley, Pierce said.

A chance of rain will remain in the forecast through at least Thursday morning, Pierce said.

Chris Stachelski, another Weather Service meteorologist, urged drivers to be cautious, as the rain could make for slick streets.
