Cactus Avenue interchange to open Friday, ahead of schedule

Cactus Avenue interchange

The Cactus Avenue interchange over Interstate 15 will open at 2 p.m. Friday, two months ahead of schedule, the Nevada Department of Transportation announced today. The project was initially scheduled to be finished in October.

While the new interchange will be open to motorists, crews will continue to work on final cleanup and incidental items over the next month.

The interchange will give traffic on I-15 direct access to Cactus Avenue. It will help alleviate the often heavy traffic on the I-15 exit at Silverado Ranch Boulevard and improve access to the southwestern Las Vegas Valley, which includes Southern Highlands.

The $52 million project began in April 2013 and was built by Las Vegas Paving.
