Robbers hold up employees at grocery store gaming area

Two people, each armed with a handgun, robbed employees in the gaming area of a west valley grocery store early Wednesday morning, according to Metro Police.

The robbery happened about 3:10 a.m. at Smith's at Charleston Boulevard and Hualapai Way, police said. The robbers held up two employees at gunpoint, police said. No one was injured and nobody has been arrested, Metro Officer Laura Meltzer said.

A store employee, who declined to give his name, said everything seemed normal by the time he got to work at 7 a.m. He said employees were told there had been a robbery, but little else.

Metro robbery detectives are investigating.
