Another Albertsons grocery store is closing in the Las Vegas Valley.

The Albertsons at the northwest corner of Green Valley Parkway and Sunset Road in Henderson is having a liquidation sale as it prepares to lock its doors.

The store is slated to close on or about Sept. 4.

Despite efforts to turn things around, the store "has not been profitable for quite some time," company spokesman Paul Bancroft-Turner said.

About 75 people work at the store, and all of them have been offered jobs at another location, he said.

The pending closure comes after the company shut down two other stores early this year, one at Horizon Ridge Parkway and Eastern Avenue in Henderson and the other at Maryland Parkway and Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas.

Those two stores employed 140 people, and when their closures were announced, Bancroft-Turner said management hoped to transfer workers to other locations.

Albertsons, owned by New York investment firm Cerberus Capital Management, has 32 stores in Southern Nevada, including the one slated for closure, according to its website.
