Private plane makes crash landing at Jean airport

Updated Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 | 3:32 p.m.

A landing-gear malfunction forced a private plane to crash land at the Jean airport today.

The pilot of the Beechcraft Bonanza, who was the only person on board, was not injured, authorities said.

The pilot landed the plane on its belly about 11 a.m. on the runway at Jean Sport Aviation Center, according to McCarran International Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews.

Crews said observers at the airport watched as the airplane made a hard landing without its landing gear extended.

The plane sustain minor damage, said Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.
