Nearly two years after a deadly shooting outside a North Las Vegas liquor store, authorities have their suspect in custody.

Jessie Arredondo, 31, also known as Jesse Arrendondo, was booked Thursday into the Clark County Detention Center after waiving extradition from San Diego, where he was arrested. Details of the arrest were not immediately available.

Arredondo is charged in North Las Vegas Township Justice Court with one count of murder with a deadly weapon in the Aug. 15, 2012, fatal shooting of Daniel Chavez Garcia, 27.

According a North Las Vegas Police report:

In the early morning hours of Aug. 12, 2012, three males arrived in a Chrysler 3000 and went into El Paso Market, 3712 E. Owens. Inside the store, one of the men asked Garcia, “But where are you from.” When Garcia answered, “Blythe,” Arredondo shot him several times.

Using video surveillance footage, North Las Vegas and Metro Police officers who are assigned to a gang task force were able to identify the three men and pinpointed Arredondo as the shooter. An eyewitness to the shooting also was able to identify Arredondo from a photo lineup as the shooter. However, two other eyewitnesses were unable to ID Arredondo as the assassin.

Arredondo, who is being detained without bail, is due in court at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
