Detectives have apprehended a suspect in a deadly Monday night shooting in the parking lot of a Las Vegas apartment complex, according to Metro Police.

Johnathan Perez, 22, is charged with first-degree murder, discharging a gun within a structure, vehicle or prohibited area, and ownership or possession of a gun by a prohibited person, according to court records.

The shooting in the 1500 block of Harris Avenue, near Bruce Street and Maryland Parkway, apparently followed a verbal spat during a drug deal involving three men, according to a Metro release.

Shots were fired and two of the men drove off, leaving the victim bleeding in the lot.

The victim, whose name will be released by the Clark County Coroner, was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Perez is scheduled to be arraigned in Las Vegas Township Justice Court Thursday at 8 a.m. Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call Metro Police at 702-828-3521 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or at crimestoppersofnv.com.
