Prospect of blowing dust prompts air quality advisory

Gusty winds are threatening to kick up excessive amounts of dust on Tuesday in the Las Vegas Valley.

Winds between 25 and 35 mph are expected to howl through the valley, with the potential to reach 50 mph in some areas and 65 mph on Mount Charleston, National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Stachelski said.

The blustery conditions have led the Clark County Department of Air Quality to issue an air quality advisory.

The advisory urges residents and construction workers to take precautions to prevent blowing dust.
