Coroner IDs motorcyclist killed in crash on Lake Mead Boulevard

A motorcyclist killed Tuesday in a crash on Lake Mead Boulevard was identified today as 58-year-old Donald Joseph Reed of North Las Vegas, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Reed was traveling west on Lake Mead Boulevard, under the Interstate 15 overpass, about 3:20 p.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle on a curve in the road, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said. Reed was thrown from his motorcycle, he said.

Reed was taken to University Medical Center, where he died. Coroner’s officials have not released the cause of death.

Preliminary investigation indicates that speeding caused the crash, Hixson said.

NHP is investigating the accident.
