Who's the No. 2?

Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer are back with their weekly look at high school football. In this episode, they debate how to rank Arbor View, Palo Verde, Green Valley and Liberty.

Palo Verde High quarterback Parker Rost threw a pair of touchdown passes today to help the Panthers defeat visiting Silverado, 21-6.

The Panthers led 7-0 at halftime after Rost connected with Hykeem Massey for a 35-yard scoring strike, giving them the lead for good.

Palo Verde (2-1) scored 14 points in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run from Jaren Campbell and an 18-yard touchdown pass from Rost to Jake Ortale.

After surrendering 74 points in its initial two games, the Palo Verde defense had its best performance of the season. Last week, they lost 42-41 to Green Valley in overtime but were able to bounce back against Silverado.

“They are huge up front,” Palo Verde coach Darwin Rost said of Silverado. “They grind, grind, grind and ate up the clock. It was kind of a bend but not break type of thing (for the defense)."
