Harry Reid on lawmakers bent on defunding Obamacare: They’re ‘weird’

Sen. Harry Reid’s got a new term of endearment for Republicans who want to defund Obamacare.

They’re “weird.”

Reid derided the “weird caucus” a few times in a press conference Friday, during which he also told reporters that the fate of government budget was now fully in the House’s hands and that a shutdown would be the Republicans’ fault if it came.

When a reporter questioned why Reid shouldn’t share the blame for failing to bend to Republican demands to defund Obamacare, Reid scoffed at her “weird caucus math” and spoke of how Obamacare was a law, not a negotiating point.

So if you’re keeping a list of Reid’s pet names for Republicans this week, we’re now at: Weird, anarchist, fanatic, extremist and Thelma and Louise.

The House may yet make moves that will inspire more adjectives and metaphors. There are still three days before a shutdown and no matter how things play out, a whole debt ceiling argument to go.
