A 16-year-old boy remains missing for the third straight day after his mother and 10-year-old brother were found dead inside their Henderson apartment.

Henderson Police detectives have been unable to locate Adrian Navarro as of 4 p.m. Sunday, spokesman Keith Paul said. Police began searching for Navarro shortly after noon Friday when they discovered his 40-year-old mother and 10-year-old brother dead inside their Summit at Sunridge apartment in 11000 block of South Eastern Avenue.

Police discovered their bodies during a welfare checkup when the mother did not report to work, and the two boys failed to show up for school, Paul said. Navarro was missing from the home when officers arrived.

Though authorities have not yet officially identified the pair, relatives said the dead mother is Elvira Canales, 40, and her son is Cesar Navarro. Neither had reported to school or work since Wednesday, Paul said.

Detectives are investigating the case but have not determined a suspect or motive in the mother and son’s death as of Sunday. Adrian Navarro is not considered a suspect at this time, Paul said.

Police urge anyone with information regarding the incident or the location of Adrian Navarro to call Henderson Police at 267-4750, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555, or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
