City of North Las Vegas loses third top administrator in six weeks

Another member of the city of North Las Vegas executive team is out of a job.

City officials today confirmed that Al Zochowski, North Las Vegas’ finance director since January 2012, was no longer an employee of the city. Tim Colbert, a certified public accountant who had been an assistant to the city manager, is the city's acting finance director, said Juliet Casey, a spokeswoman for the city.

Zochowski, whose tenure ended today, is the third top administrator to leave the city in recent weeks. Last month, City Manager Tim Hacker, hired in September 2011, and City Attorney Jeff Barr announced their resignations.

Zochowski has more than 30 years of experience in government operations, most recently having worked as finance director for the Village of Lake Zurich, Ill. Previously, Zochowski previously had been budget manager for Glenview, Ill., parks and recreation business manager for the city of Yuma, Ariz., and director of finance and chief financial officer for Chicago’s Department of Sewers.

Hacker, Barr and Zochowski were holdovers from the administration of former North Las Vegas Mayor Shari Buck, who lost her bid for re-election and was replaced in July by Mayor John Lee.
