Two people died tonight when a semitrailer rolled onto a car on Interstate 15 near the St. Rose Parkway exit, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The fatal accident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. in a far right, southbound lane. The occupants of the 2006 Nissan sedan — a female driver and male passenger — were pronounced dead, Trooper Jeremie Elliott said.

The accident caused so much damage that authorities were still trying to remove the victims’ bodies from the vehicle, Elliott said.

It’s unclear what caused the semitrailer to roll, he said. The male driver of the semitrailer suffered minor injuries.

Motorists should expect delays in the area for several hours as troopers investigate the accident and clear the scene.
