Metro Police:

Motive, events surrounding shooting that left one in critical condition unclear

A man is in critical condition after suffering several gunshot wounds early this morning, according to Metro Police.

Police officers were in the area of Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway at 3:09 a.m. Friday on an unrelated call when they heard several gun shots, according to Metro Police spokesman Bill Cassell.

They started to investigate and a witness told the officers they believed someone had been shot nearby. The officers ultimately located the male victim at the Sportman’s Royal Manor apartment complex, 5600 Boulder Highway.

The victim was transported to Sunrise Trauma Center and is in critical but stable condition, Cassell said.

“We are not sure of the motive or what happened yet, but this is an ongoing investigation,” Cassell said.
