Evan Dunham vs. Donald Cerrone added to next UFC card in Las Vegas

Six fights now booked for anniversary event

UFC 162 - Weidman vs. Silva

Sam Morris / Las Vegas Sun

UFC lightweight Donald Cerrone cheers between rounds of Chris Weidman’s and Anderson Silva’s middleweight title fight at UFC 162 Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Weidman upset Silva with a second round knockout, taking the belt Silva has held since 2006.

One of the area’s best local fighters will be included on the UFC’s rapidly filling 20th anniversary card.

Lightweight Evan Dunham (14-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) returns to the octagon against fellow veteran Donald Cerrone (21-6 MMA, 7-3 UFC) on Nov. 16 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, according to UFC officials.

Both Dunham and Cerrone are looking to re-establish themselves as contenders in the 155-pound division after recent losses to the same man — Rafael dos Anjos.

Dos Anjos ran through Cerrone in a unanimous decision last week at UFC Fight Night 27, three months after doing the same against Dunham at UFC on FX 9.

Dunham vs. Cerrone is slated in support of a long-awaited welterweight championship bout Georges St. Pierre and Johny Hendricks at UFC 167.

Months ago, UFC President Dana White promised a stacked undercard would be a part of the celebratory event. He’s held true to his word so far.

Two former champions, light heavyweight Rashad Evans and heavyweight Frank Mir, will also be featured on the pay-per-view. Evans takes on Chael Sonnen while Mir meets Alistair Overeem.

Two significant welterweight bouts are also on tap, as top-10 competitors Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler face off after a meeting between Josh Koscheck and Tyron Woodley.

Tickets for UFC 167 are currently on sale through ticketmaster.
