Internet domain manager to set up shop on East Tropicana

Registry operator xyz.com has acquired a 13,000-square-foot office on East Tropicana Avenue to become the hub for the new .xyz and .college Internet domain extensions.

Daniel Negari, CEO of xyz.com LLC, said the office at 2121 E. Tropicana, just west of Eastern Avenue, eventually would house 100 employees working on the newly acquired domain extensions.

Company spokesman Shayan Rostam said operations would begin in early 2014 and the company has not determined what other Internet development-related services the company would provide.

Marlene Fujita Winkel, a vice president of CBRE’s Private Capital Group, brokered the deal with CBRE’s Charles Moore and associate Ashley Kolaczynski representing the seller. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

Negari, 27, a Las Vegas resident, sought an office near the UNLV campus that would be used to educate the public about Internet domains and to house his company’s marketing, support and legal departments.

The office building, formerly known as Blockhaus, will be renamed Xyzhaus. Negari, who does woodworking as a hobby, plans to create the building’s new signage, Rostam said.
